The Club has been running this popular introduction to yacht racing for over 35 years now and has introduced many to the joys of messing around on racing boats. Some have gone on to own and skipper their own yachts but the aim is to train crew for the racing fleet we have at Brighton. Session 1 of the Autumn series starts on Saturday 23rd September and runs for the next 5 Saturdays.

As with any outdoor sport we are dependent on the weather so come dressed to be outside for a few hours with some soft-soled shoes so you don't damage the yacht decks! As sailors we have an added complication with the tides and ensuring we have enough water under our keels to get in and out of the marina too - so times may vary a little but we'll aim for a 0930 start each Saturday. The Club will be open from 0900 so after registering you can get a brew from the galley and meet your fellow Clubclassers. We will then have some 'talk time' with one of our racing skippers who will chat about some aspect of sailing and racing before we 'crew up' and head for the boats. There will be an essential safety briefing and we'll chat through what we aim to do whilst afloat - then we rig up and go sailing. Whilst afloat we'll practise sailing/racing manoeuvres and learn how to make our boats go faster. As the weeks progress, we'll practise race starts and even look to squeeze in some short races.

We'll aim to be back in the marina and on the dock to put the boats to bed around 1230/1300. You're then free to head on home or join us all in YOUR club house for some après sail chat. The club has a well-stocked bar and the galley turns out some decent grub too. Weekends can be busy so if you intend to make use of the club then check with the galley team as to how busy they are or book a table via the website links. https://www.thewatershed.club/table-bookings .
