Club Rules
BMYC is a members' club, run by its members for its members.
Visitors and Guests
Visitors and potential members are always welcome and we ask you to abide by the same rules as our members. If you are a regular user of the Club we encourage you to take up membership and the advantages that this brings. If, as a member, you bring guests to the Club then we would like to remind you that you will be considered responsible for their behaviour. Membership details are available from the bar staff, or from the membership page of our website https://bmyc.uk/page/join_us
No smoking or vaping
Smoking is prohibited within the building by UK law and we do not allow 'vaping' within the Club either. If you would like to smoke or vape then please use the outside deck area. Please use the designated areas and the ashtrays provided. Please do not drop butts on the deck or throw them into the water. Please do not smoke/vape immediately outside any of the doors nor allow your smoke/vapour to enter the Club House in any way.
Keep dogs under control
We like dogs and their owners, but it goes without saying that your dog is your responsibility within the Club.
Well behaved dogs are welcome in the Club but;
- must be kept on their lead at all times
- must not be allowed to be on the furniture
- should not be fed or watered inside the building (Water bowls are available from the bar to be used outside on the decking)
We are aware that even the best behaved dogs may bark from time to time, especially in busy and unfamiliar environments, but repetitive, disruptive barking will not be tolerated.
If you are not able to follow these simple rules or if any user of the Club is uncomfortable about the behaviour of your dog then you may be asked to leave. If you refuse to cooperate with requests from Staff or Members to either restrain your dog or to leave the premises you may find that you will no longer be welcome at the Club.
Anyone whose dog fouls the Club House or the outside decking area will be expected to arrange for the mess to be cleaned up immediately and thoroughly and may find that their dog is no longer welcome in the Club.
Please respect our dress code
Please dress respectfully within the Club, i.e. no bare feet or chests, revealing clothing or swimwear. Wet weather gear is designed for outdoors, so please use the entrance corridor or toilets to change out of wet clothing before entering the Club.
Ensure access for all
The entrances, doorways and access ramps to the Club should be kept clear at all times.
If you require help getting into or out of the Club please call ahead for assistance.
Bags and luggage
Stow sailing bags considerately. We have a shelving area for bags within the Club. Please use these and do not allow your bags to block entrances or spread out over the floor. Equipment, such as sails, boat parts or bicycles should not be brought into the Club House.
Enjoy using a real glass but be safe
Please do not remove glasses, mugs or crockery from the Club House. If you wish to take drinks away please ask the bar staff for a suitable container. If you do drop or break something, please report it to the bar staff so it can be cleared up promptly and safely.
WIFI
We provide wireless internet access free to our members and guests - users can get a temporary password from the bar. We do restrict bandwidth and users attempting to download large files or access inappropriate websites may find access denied. The Club House is for members to relax and enjoy themselves, not a mobile office, so we would ask that members do not make a regular habit of bringing their work to the Club House and allow others to enjoy their time away from a work focused environment.
Keep noise down and be a good neighbour
We are located within a busy marina, with neighbours on boats and in the surrounding flats. Please leave the Club quietly at all times. Whilst on the exterior deck area please also be considerate of our neighbours and keep noise to an acceptable level.
Rudeness
Rudeness whether directed towards staff, members and their guests or visitors is not acceptable. If your language and/or behaviour is deemed to be unacceptable then staff or any member may ask you to leave. They will have the full backing of the Board in doing so.
Finally
We thank you for using the Club and are delighted to see you whenever you visit us. If you have any comments to make about the way we run it then please feel free to approach one of the bar or galley staff, or send an email directly to office@bmyc.uk.
