BMYC Autumn Regatta '24

What an incredible weekend! We experienced the very best of competitive sailing, coupled with the unwavering spirit of our club. Across six races, we witnessed a dramatic shift in weather conditions between Saturday and Sunday. Saturday greeted us with nearly perfect conditionssunny skies and fair windssetting the stage for some excellent racing. By contrast, Sunday brought strong winds gusting up to 30 knots, requiring us to adjust, including shortening the course to ensure everyone's safety.

Despite the challenging conditions, the weekend was a true testament to the dedication, skill, and sportsmanship of all participants. The racing was fierce, and the trophies were hard-earned. Congratulations to the winning boats in each category:

- **IRC1**: Flawless J, Jouster, Mad Max

- **IRC2**: Brainwave, Jab-Jab, Vision

- **NHC1**: Flawless J, Jouster, Redeye

- **NHC2**: Fluttergrub, Redeye, Sunfast

A heartfelt thank you to all the visiting boats that made the journey to Brighton to support our Autumn Regatta.

We would also like to extend our gratitude to our sponsors, Neilson Holidays and Plain Sailing Chandlery, as well as to Premier Marina for providing free mooring for our visiting boats.

Special thanks go to our race committee, led by our Rear Commodore of Racing, David Martin, whose tireless efforts ensured the event ran smoothly. We must also acknowledge Tony and his crew for their invaluable rib assistance, laying up marks on Saturday, and keeping a watch on racing boats. Lets not forget our race officers aboard AJ, with Mark Jephcott at the lead, and Kevin and Malcolmour pillars of racingfor expertly handling both days of racing and the challenging conditions on Sunday.

Even with the contrasting weather, the spirit of the event remained high. There was plenty of racing, good humor, and a vibrant atmosphere throughout the club. The dedication of the racers, along with the support of our volunteers and sponsors, made for a successful and memorable weekend for everyone involved.

Race participants: Flawless J, Jouster, Redeye, Mad Max, Cola's Arc, Upstart, Fluttergrub, Revive, Bojangles, Jongleur, Snollygoster, Laughing Fish, Hard Target, Brainwave, Jab-Jab, Vision, Scorpio, Trickster.
