Summer Rally - Wandering West '24
Published 01:00 on 21 Jul 2024
Our '24 summer rally was a wonderful trek down the coast to Dartmouth and back. The weather God's smiled on us and we had a beautiful week of sunny weather despite a major storm passing north west of us in wales mid week. The winds were a little light at times for the sailing contingent but we still managed plenty of good sailing!
We had 12 boats and approx 28 people in total for all, or parts of the rally. On Saturday we went from Brighton to Port Hamble leaving at 03:00 to get fair tides through Looe channel, on the Sunday we went on to Weymouth Harbour leaving 04:00 to get a push through the needles. On Monday we left Weymouth at 05:00 to get a fair tide around Portland bill and across lyme bay on to Dartmouth. We were moored mid river in dartmouth for 2 days. On Wednesday we returned to Weymouth and an Thursday we made our way to Cowes for 2 days before returning home on Saturday.
It was a lovely week of sailing and motoring together, we exploried new areas of the coastal waters, visited new harbours and towns. We had time together for dinner each evening to tell tall stories and build new friendships!
Plans are already underway for the summer 25 rally.
