BMYC Cruising will be running a training course for RYA First Aid in our club. BOOK YOUR PLACE NOW!
This will be an all day course with equipment provided.
The course instruction will be provided by Brighton Boating, a handbook and a certificate will be provided
Study for your RYA First Aid, Safety at Sea certificate. In a medical emergency a little first aid knowledge and immediate action can save lives, especially in remote locations.
On this practical course you will get the chance to move out of the classroom and work through different emergency scenarios on our boats, all the time gaining valuable information in a more realistic environment.
Yes you can put someone in to the recovery position in a spacious classroom, but how about in the cockpit of a yacht, or near the engine bay of a motorcrusier?!
You will learn:
- The recovery position
- Cold shock and hypothermia from immersion or exposure
- Drowning
- Sea sickness
- Dehydration
- Medical assistance
- Advice by VHF
- Helicopter rescue
- CPR
Course objective:
You will have a working knowledge of first aid for people using small craft
