Sea Safety Evening powered by SeaGo
Know what to do when it matters most
Sea Safety Evening powered by SeaGo
Every sailor knows the theory. Very few have ever touched a life raft, let alone deployed one. This evening changes that.
Join us for an interactive Safety at Sea talk and live life raft demonstration, led by the team at SeaGo - one of the UK's leading names in marine safety equipment and brought to BMYC in partnership with Plain Sailing Chandlery. Whether you're new to sailing or have years of sea miles behind you, this is an evening that will sharpen your knowledge, build real confidence, and give you the kind of practical understanding that could one day make all the difference.
What to expect
This is not a passive talk. Come ready to get involved.
The evening combines an expert-led presentation with a live, full deployment of a life raft - so you can see exactly what happens when the canister hits the water. You'll have the opportunity to handle the equipment, ask the questions you've always wanted to ask, and leave with a clearer picture of how to prepare yourself and your crew for the unexpected.
Topics covered include:
How to correctly deploy a life raft at sea
Key principles of safety at sea and emergency preparedness
What to carry, what to check, and what to do under pressure
Crew communication and decision-making in an emergency
