Cruising '26 » Summer Rally in Normandy (1 Week)

BMYC Cruising invites you to our landmark summer rally which will be exploring the ports and coast of Normandy

We have two rallies to choose from going to Normandy, one which is for a week and the other longer for two weeks. Choose the one that suits you best! The two rallies overlap and will hopefully meet in Deauville to return as a group to Brighton from St Valery en Caux.

1 week rally - exploring Normandy

Please note that departure times are approximate and each skipper MUST do their own passage plan for each leg.

Our provisional timetable is as follows times will be updated before our briefings.

Setting off at 06.00 on 1 August, it's over to Dieppe and then on 2nd we sail down to Fecamp (32nm). After a well-earned rest day on 3rd, it's a 30nm hop over to Deauville/Trouville on 4th, where we meet our two-weekers. Note that there are tidal restrictions. After another rest it's on to St Valery en Caux on 6th, again tidally restricted, then after another rest day it's back to Blighty on 8th.

Our trip provides ample stops for shore side activities which is something we have been asked to include. More detail to follow once we have provisional numbers and boat draughts (which could affect choices of harbours for some)

1. Friday 24/07 19:00 Rally briefing at the club
2. Saturday 01/08 07:00 Depart Brighton for Dieppe
3. Sunday 02/08 06:00 Depart Dieppe for Fecamp (31nm) (tide turns adverse c 10.00)
4. Monday 03/08 Rest Day
5. Tuesday 04/08 10.00 Fecamp to Deauville/Trouville (30 miles) - - two rallies join!! MUST arrive after 12.20 and before 6pm latest and don't cut it too fine! Tides are more favourable down the coast in the morning.
6. Wednesday 05/08 Rest Day and perhaps sample the delights of the awesome Trouville fish and shellfish market, where each stall has its own tables and ice buckets and you select your own fruits-de-mer - bring a bottle and bread
7. Thursday 06/08 St 06:30 Deauville/Trouville to St Valery en Caux 46 nm (Note that there will be adverse tides for part of day) - you MUST arrive after 15.30 and before 19.30 or bale out to Fecamp or Dieppe note that there is limited room for milling about awaiting the bridge which opens every half hour
8. Friday 07/08 Rest Day - St Valery en Caux
9. Saturday 08/08 06:00 St Valery en Caux to Brighton

EMERGENCIES: In case of emergency please follow normal protocols with recourse to VHF 16 Coastguard or telephone 999 for emergency services.
